Frontier City opened up in 1958 in an old abandon mine. Some of the buildings were re-located to the park. The park offers the guests over 75 rides and attractions to please all ages. The park has 5 boasting roller coasters, Diamondback, Wildcat, Wild Kitty, Nightmare Mine, and the Silver Bullet. The park also offers water rides such as Mystery River Log Flume and Renegade Rapids to keep you cool during those hot summer nights. Six Flags corporate offices is just on the other side of the park. Frontier City, owned at the beginning of the twenty-first century by the Oklahoma City-based Six Flags Inc., one of the largest amusement companies in the nation, began operation in 1958 on the heavily traveled Route 66 and I-35 in northeast Oklahoma City. Using a western theme and moving an entire western town from the Oklahoma State Fair, the new park attracted 1.2 million visitors in the first year. Although Frontier City had lean years, the theme park continued to entertain the region into the twenty-first century by providing nationally recognized entertainment and an ever-growing selection of thrill rides. It's the flagship park to all the Six Flags theme park world wide. In 2003, the park added the multi-million dollar thrill ride, an S&S Sling Shot dubbed Eruption for it's 45th anniversary.
